During the free trading era, high quality of product is required because of the high level of competition from other companies. One of the factors which affect product’s quality is the measurement accuracy of each component in the product. ISO/IEC 17025 was launched in 1999 as the substitute of ISO Guide 25. ISO/IEC 17025 has been revised and published on May 2005. It is the main standard which used by the examiner and calibration laboratory. This standard provides a global requirement for the competency in term of examination or calibration including the sampling process. Many laboratory conduct ISO/IEC 17025 in order to improve the ability of the company in producing valid results consistently. ISO/IEC 17025 is specifically developed to provide the standard in quality management system and technical requirement of laboratory.

ISO/IEC 17025 implementation also offers the advantages in many aspects which include calibration and/or examination access, global reputation of the laboratory, data quality and the efficiency of the laboratory
ISO 17025 can be applied by all organization which conducts the examination and/or calibration because this standard is not limited by the number of personnel, the area of examination, and/or the calibration scope in the International Standard.
